Verbart 46 – The Egg Heard ‘Round the world

The 46-Verbart (NL 65-1483946) is a SUPERCRACK

As a racer, he won 15 firsts! As a breeder he turned out to be WORLD CLASS!.

He was purchased together with his son ’57 VERBART, (who was an 8 X 1st winner) in 1974 from Piet Verbart Druten by Mr Krouwel (Krouwel-Pollmann) .

“DE 46-VERBART” was unequalled as a breeder! Hundreds of 1st prize winners have descend have from this phenomenal cock.

“DE 46-VERBART” was a bred by Jos van Limpt “DE Klak” of Reusel Holland, who stated the following in a magazine article: ‘In those days I had several real good pigeons from my famous couple ‘Vechter’and ‘Witpenneke’. But none of them was as good as the “46” óf Piet Verbart, that won 15 firsts. Piet Verbart got the “46” as an egg. If I would have known how good this bird would become, I would never have sold the egg of course. But every body makes mistakes. Nobody can see into the head of a pigeon’.

Piet de Weerd remarked about “46-VERBART”: “One of the best pigeons I have ever handled”.

What was exceptional about “46-VERBART” is that the youngsters bred from him were not only phenomenal racers but many became outstanding breeders as well. We find many 1st prize winners, car winners, National Ace pigeons, etc. among his offspring. Both in Europe and abroad many famous fanciers were succesful with the “VERBART ’46” family. Below are some examples.

• Comb. den Haan Honselersdijk, their basic birds such as “DE ROVER”, “DE FREULE”, “DE PROVO” and so on were purchased from Mr Krouwel.
• Comb. Elskamp Nunspeet too got their fantastic basic pair “ZACHTE” x “STIERDUIFJE”, as well as their “SPERWERDUIVIN” a miraculous breeding hen from Krouwel.
• Bertie Camphuis Eefde acquired “DE WANDELAAR” (son “46-VERBART”) in 1986. “DE WANDELAAR” became grandfather of the famous “WONDERBOY’s 05 and 06”.

NL 88-2854505 ‘Wonderboy 05’ was crowned as 2nd National Ace bird of The Netherlands WHZB 1990. He won the following top prizes in his short but very impressing career as a racer: 1st Houdeng 3,944 p., 1st Pt St Maxence 7,428 p., 2nd Jemeppe 3,822 p., 5th Pt St Maxence 1,977 p., 6th Etampes 6,676 p.

‘Wonderboy 05’ proved great value as a breeder to, as he is grandsire to ‘Silvester’, best short distance bird of The Netherlands WHZB 1997.

NL88-2854506 ‘Wonderboy 06’ was crowned as 4th National Ace bird of The Netherlands WHZB 1990. This cock listed magnificent results, like a/o: 1st Hannut 11,294 p., 1st Jemeppe 3,619 p., 1st Pt St Maxence 3,658 p., 2nd Ottignies 3,619 p., 3rd Epernay 1,270 p., 4th Hannut 4,414 p.

‘Wonderboy 06’ became grandsire to ‘Miss Peronne’, who won the National NPO race Peronne in 1997 against 30,389 p.

In 1991 ‘Wonderboy 05’ and ‘Wonderboy 06’ was sold to Hans Eijerkamp and became one of the best breeders at Greenfield Stud.

• “DE SCHALIE 899” (son “46-VERBART”) became a famous bird for Campbell Strange, USA.
• “811” became the forefather of 4 car winners, “DE JONGE 46”, “DE SCHONE LICHTE”, “De 584”, “46-DUIFKE”, “KWEEKWONDER”, “GEK”, “DE WANDELAAR”, “BARONES”, “ZWERVER”, “ROVER”, “FREULE”, “DE SPERWER” and so on. A daughter of “DE SPERWER” is grandmother of the National Ace WHZB Middle Distance for Wim v.d.Pol Goirle in 2000.
• The “WONDER van BERGEN” winner in the same year of 1st National Dax and 3rd National St Vincent is a granddaughter of VERBART 46.

This is only a small summary. Numourous fanciers were succesful with this bloodline.No wonder that in an inquiry in pigeonmagazine NPO “46-VERBART” (together with “DE BLINDE” Dusee) were elected as the best pigeons in the PREVIOUS CENTURY

The 46-Verbart (NL65-1483946) is a SUPERCRACK with 15 FIRST PRIJZEN and after his flying carrier he became a WORLD FAMOUS BREEDER.

“De 46” as he was known by many was also the base line of Mr. Aristona 1^st National Ace All Holland and Mr. Aristona was sire and Grandsire to many good racers and was one of the foundation lines of my loft.
